Doubtful, but just in case you hadn't heard....!

The #government will undertake the #UK’s first-ever #nationwide public alert system test scheduled for this Sunday 23rd April 2023. Millions of mobile phones across the UK will receive the message alongside a loud alarm at 3pm. The system is intended to be used in life-threatening situations, such as #flooding and #wildfires.

Set to be tested on #4g and #5g mobile phones, the sound and vibration will last for up to 10 seconds even if devices are set to silent. The message will say: “This is a test of Emergency Alerts, a new UK government service that will warn you if there's a life-threatening emergency nearby.

The main concern surrounding this test is for domestic abuse survivors who may be keeping their phones hidden from an abuser. If you or anyone you know is concerned for these reasons - there is a link HERE more information or support.

  • Chose to take my emergency alert off. Should I put it back on, don't know yet.

  • I didn't get the alert either - was waiting for it, and then nothing!

  • My dads nor my oldest daughters phones went off.

  • My eldest was the only one out of the four of us that didn't get it. If there's a zombie apocolypse we'll just have to WhatsApp him and hope he checks his messages!

  • Was in the toilet at the time and missed all the excitement. Heard it tho!

  • Thanks for posting that John.
