I set the question at this week's M10 meeting and asked - When was the last time you wrote a cheque and what was it for?
As you can imagine, there were a variety of responses, from just last week to I've never written a cheque!
I was prompted to ask the question as I have a client who pays me by cheque and there was a slight delay as they had to wait for a new cheque book. They must be one of the very few people left still paying by cheque in today's digital world!
So when did you last write a one and what was it for?

Don't think I've ever written a cheque, however still have a few clients that pay by cheque.
Particularly charities where cheques have to be signed by two people.
Happens less and less - however I still offer the option to pay by cheque.
You've never written a cheque! How have you managed to avoid that?
I actually can't remember the last time I wrote a cheque, but I know it was for a dressage completion.
It's those sort of things which took ages to get online!
Hi Jeanette. Had to search for the cheque book! Don't have a business account cheque book. On the personal account, last cheque was over 4 years ago - to pay for Scouts subs when my son was there. (Non) Interesting fact - when I started with Bank of Scotland in 1985, my very first job was to stamp 'Paid' all the cheques which in those days were returned to each branch after they were processed, file them against each account for the branch and then monthly, when the statements came in, I had to ensure each cheque on the statement was posted back out with the statement - yes, in those days, the paid cheques were sent back out to customers for their own information!

Now that is an excellent QOTF! I can't remember. Think is was a business cheque and it was years and years ago!
My last business cheque was years ago too. I used liked to pay HMRC by cheque as I didn't trust online banking - still don't completely to be honest ha ha
