I’m a keen gardener and I’m sure, like me, most of you would see the dandelion as a weed, a pest, something to be yanked out of our lawns as quick as a flash.

So, this article – about it being massively sought after in Singapore and extolling its high vitamin and mineral content (who knew that dandelions have twice as much Vitamin A and C as spinach, and five times as much Vitamin K!) – came as quite a surprise.

I knew it was a good pollinator for the bees, but still … When were you last surprised by a supposed villain turning out to be a goodie?

  • This makes me smile, I love a dandelion. Although after reading this perhaps I should leave them alone and stop blowing the tops off them for amusement :)

    • They do look lovely blowing in the wind Kayleigh Paterson and that takes me back to my childhood where we used them to tell the time! 🤣

  • It's true what they say Siobhan Jaffray one man's treasure is another man's trash...and as a keen gardener I just want rid of the pesky blighters 🤣

  • You always share such interesting articles Nicky! I did not know this, although I am not a fan of dandelion and burdock so not sure if I would enjoy it.

  • Hi Nicky. I'm just gutted at missing out on the opportunity to have shipped them by the crate! The grass gets cut again next weekend. I'm sure I'll have a fresh batch by then.
