We tend to have different perspectives on success. Everyone has their own unique map. What is success for one, may be different for another. I can recall an experience that a Psychologist friend shared with me. He was on the road much of the time, however when home he always made a point of the bedtime story with his two girls who at the time were 6 and 7. He had a favourite question before they settled down.. What made you smile at school today?. His rationale was not only to get an answer to the question, he was keen they go to sleep on a positive. Jay Shetty, social entrepreneur also talks about finishing your day with 3 things you are grateful for. Past experiences are learning opportunities and not areas to dwell negatively on. The awards given out the other day at B4N for ABN activity in 2022 may be considered success by the recipients. A recognition of hard work or dedication for example. So what 3 things are you most proud of this year?

  • Thank you Leigh. Using the skills we learn from the past to serve us going forward. Onwards and upwards for 2023..

  • I only have 2 things.

I am proud of myself for stepping out of my comfort zone and purchasing a business I am passionate about. Knowing I have big shoes to fill is still rather daunting but it's also an incentive to push forward.

For standing up infront of a group or people and speaking out loud, which has been a fear of mine since primary school. I am working on my circle Brian.

  • What a great post Brian! I read it first thing this morning but wanted to take a bit of time to think about my response before replying.

It's been a challenging year on many fronts for me. I'm proud of the fact that I've managed to make it through a year of very difficult work situations. Too much work, too little work and work of the wrong kind. I think I'm finally ending the year in a good place.

I'm proud of coming back from injury in the summer and finally getting back to full fitness with my running. I'm also proud of the fact that I made the decision not to run my October marathon. I don't like to backout of something I've said I'll do, but if I had done it I think it would've ended badly!

And I'm proud of making it through another year with my husband and coming out stronger at the other end! The year threw some really massive challenges at us but we somehow managed to navigate our way through them.

So what are you most proud of this year Brian?

    • Thanks for taking the time to reflect on what your proud of Jeanette. When you take time to think it through, its clear what resilience we have as human beings, however its also good that we can focus on priorities normally linked to our values.

For me, helping my elderly mum through another year and keeping her positive, through intermittent fasting mid year, getting weight down and keeping it there and making the choice to invest in New Level results `the curve` software to help individuals and teams achieve their best year yet in 2023. I procrastinated on this for a couple of years with COVID and now we are out the other end many people need my support and guidance to help them shine again.  Thanks for making me think.
