When social distancing and self-isolation arrived, my work as AndBreathe disappeared overnight.  The workshops and appointments were cancelled. Fortunately tAndBreathe Membership on Patreon continued, but apart from that I was very worried! In recent months I had been looking at long term plans and had decided that I would possibly wind down some of my work as a musician/music tutor, as AndBreathe business built up.  Well, I am so glad I hadn't done more than think about it, because it is my music work that is keeping me alive right now! Teaching flute and piano online is completely different but we're getting there.  I have also been given additional hours at ACMS (Aberdeen City Music School), which has allowed me to sleep better at night.  I realise I am very fortunate.

I had such a good online Contact Builder last week with Jules Goodwin and a catch up with Debbie Rose. So good to have contact with the outside world! We shared the challenges facing us just now, both work and personally.

I have decided that during April, all my AndBreathe work will be as a volunteer.  It is my way of helping during these strange times.  All 1-2-1 appointments are free, as well as a weekly online Wellness Check-in on a Tuesday evening at 8pm.  The Tuesday event is 20-30 minutes and we do a bit of Tapping and some mindfulness.  You do not need to have any experience of either before you join us!  I also have a couple of Family Wellbeing groups on FB to support families' mental health and wellbeing just now.

If you know of anyone finding things particularly tricky just now, please get in touch.

  • I can relate. Well done Gillian.

  • Brilliant, Gillian! Well done you for hanging in there, adjusting how you work for now and going for it! It's wonderful what you're doing to help others' wellbeing

  • So amazing Gillian! I'm the same boat with my own business - unfortnately 0 earnings at the moment so using my skills to continue to help charities etc for free. Scary times - but we'll be able to build back up :) I'm interested in your Zoom feed!
