What's been the best film you've seen in 2020?

Most of us have watched more TV this year, including films. So what's been the best film you've seen and why?

Some excellent ones we've seen (including 3 actually at the pictures, sorry, cinema!) include 1917, Tenet, The Gentlemen, A Star is Born, Silence and Parasite. But I'm going with JoJo Rabbit. A film about Hitler/the Nazis of course shouldn't be funny at all. But this is very well-observed satire and has important messages for tolerance in 2020 and beyond. And it's very, very funny! If you've not yet seen it, add it to your Xmas watch list!

  • Dunkirk has to be one of my fave films that I have seen, perhaps something to do with Tom Hardy?

    • Great film!

  • That got me thinking Andrew, what was the last movie I went to see at the "pictures" ? ....... and I think it was The Gentlemen, which I loved!

    • Watched The Gentlemen based on your recommendation Lynn - we loved it!

  • Thanks Tess, Mark, J-Lo and Steven! Steven, you're onto something there. Surely there are more dystopian fllms on their way now. Game of Thrones movie would be good tho. It's cheerier!

  • I fell in love with the series on Amazon Prime called 'This is US' it was and still is a wonderfully woven story about a family. It does require a box of tissues, be warned.

  • Watched a lot of rubbish on TV this year, which is idiotic considering the amount of DVDs there is in the house with better stuff to watch.  Wathced The Gentlemen, that was decent.

Best films watched were all repeats or cheesy movies, Black Panther, The Italian Job, Draft Day, Big Trouble in Little China.

Lokking forward to some new releases in 2021!

  • I tend to get film amensia - as in I can't remember what films I've seen! I do remember 1917 being a pretty impressive watch though. I'll have to add JoJo Rabbit to my 'to watch' list.

  • Contagion ? 🧐🤣

World War Z could surely be 2020 Part 2 if the vaccine has interesting side effects with The Book of Eli being 2020 Part 3

🤗 PS not actually my favourite films seen this year

  • Thanks for the recommendation Andrew, could do with some satirical belly laughs.. I really miss going to the cinema,  although I was pleased to see Tenet on the big screen, favourites were Parasite (which honestly was the most gripping movie I have seen in years) Borat, and yesterday I watched Uncle Frank which was so moving. I know all the boys in my family  are looking forward to the new Wonder Woman  movie, that might be lined up for Christmas night!
