When Glastonbury postpones yet again, now until 2022, it makes me realise how far we’ve still got to go.

That light at the end of the tunnel is shining but there are a few twists and turns ahead before we’re finally back walking in the sunshine. I think it’s good to accept that because it will help us take things as they come, rather than pinning our hopes on all sorts of things that probably still won’t happen this year.

  • Yes, I'm like you Nicky, trying not to plan too far in advance to avoid disappointment.  However, I do like to have something to look forward to, so my aim is to get over to visit my husband in Dubai at the end of the year.

    • Having something to look forward to really keeps us motivated doesn't it Michelle Allan so it's difficult to know if and when we should start planning fun stuff! A trip to Dubai sounds lovely 😃

  • I think a lot of this will be re-thought and tinkered with as we go depending upon guidelines at the time. I get the feeling some events are still in the mix because the promoter can't see themselves surviving without staging it, and a really bitter pill will have to be swallowed somewhere, but better it's not by the entire population again. Then there's the question of even if they're available, will events be populated fully, quickly? I'm not so sure. I think we'll return very slowly to all this.

    • I really hope it is a slow and steady return to normality John Mellis and not the huge surge we witnessed last summer...I don't think any of us could cope with another year of this! 🤞

  • Have you seen that Reading and Leeds festival still plan to go ahead this year?

    • Really?! Personally I think that is crazy Siobhan Jaffray as we will potentially see a third COVID wave if people start congregating in large crowds too soon...and unfortunately it will be those who haven't had their vaccine who will be the the majority of the audiences!

      • I know it seemed nuts to me that they came out with the announcement !  Surely we can't go from one extreme to another so quickly?! I can't wait for things to get back to normal - but I do not wish to be repeating this again!

        • I totally agree Amanda Inglis and if people start to relax the way they follow the rules too soon then we will still be in the same position this time next year...the thought makes me shudder!

      • Yes, I mean I'm not sure if it will actually go ahead. I was actually chatting to someone the other day about how I haven’t caught a cold this winter (touch wood) and a lot of that is probably to do with not being in crowds and the mask wearing so will be interesting to see what happens. Hopefully there will be enough people vaccinated.
