In the Paratus commercial workshop, we explore ways that SMEs can add value within supply chains. Here are some ways SME businesses can add value to Customers:

INNOVATION - SME businesses are often more agile and able to develop innovative solutions quickly. They can provide new technologies or services that improve efficiency or cut costs.
SPECIALISATION - SME firms may specialise in a particular product or service that exactly meets the customer's needs. Their expertise and focus can provide better solutions.
·      SMEs = Small and Medium Enterprises.
·      SMEs = Subject Matter Experts.
·      This is not just a coincidence.
FLEXIBILITY – SME businesses are less bureaucratic and can be more responsive and adaptable to changing requirements. They can modify products and services as needs evolve.
COST SAVINGS - SME suppliers tend to have lower overhead costs, allowing them to often provide more competitive pricing compared to large vendors.
LOCAL ECONOMIC IMPACT - Contracting with local SME businesses supports jobs and economic growth in the community. It also builds the local tax base.
SUPPLIER DIVERSITY - SME contracts help expand opportunities for minority-owned and other arguably disadvantaged businesses.
CUSTOMER SERVICE - SME businesses often provide a more personalised service and as such can be held more accountable.
NEW INNOVATIONS - Partnering with SME firms gives customers access to emerging technologies and working practices before they go mainstream.

To show customers how they can provide added value, SME businesses should focus on their strengths in flexibility, specialisation, customer service and innovation when bidding on contracts, as well as their ability to manage costs. Highlighting these differentiators can make them more competitive vs large vendors.

If you would like to learn more on the above from both the supplier and customer perspective, please check out our next workshop on the 11th October via the following link or contact us about running an in-house workshop. We can also deliver training regionally and internationally for in-house workshops or where a number of local companies can pool delegates.
