This is a really interesting article about the different views held by managers and employees on hybrid working. And the good news is that 2/3 of business leaders (in Europe, the Middle East and Africa) believe that remote work is “just as productive or more so” than working from a business premises. https://www.personneltoday.com/hr/employees-less-worried-about-hybrid-working-than-leaders/8938295896?profile=RESIZE_710x

  • I see this with my clients always Nicky. If they do want that organise this, they just don't know where to start (often te fear holding them back)

    • I think the fear of doing it wrong can certainly put some companies off trying Susanne Grant so it's important to connect positively with staff to find out their fears and concerns...and offer them solutions.

  • Hi Nicky - it's an interesting one. I think employees (who want to work remotely) and employers (who'd prefer staff in the office) need to spend a good 10 minutes of a day, being actively encouraged to think from the other side's point of view. That's essential for progress. I queried the prospect the other day and was told point blank, the company want you here not there, apart from on exceptional occasions to be agreed upon. I understand their point of view but I don't think they've even considered mine - not even for a moment, and that's where a source of angst can lie.

    • I think that's a great suggestion John Mellis as we should always seek to understand before being understood (Steven Covey). It's going to take some empathy, adaptability and careful negotiations to get people back to the office with a positive mindset.
