As always, my phone has rung on several occasions throughout the day, from numbers I don't recognise from various locations around the UK.

Standard practice is - I don't answer them. Until an hour ago...

Call one - Some company that can offer me a better deal on my Life Insurance.

Call two - Some company that can offer me a better deal on my Energy Bills

I've been through the whole rigmarole with both, and from the sounds of things, they can save me around 10-20%.

I left the call with the good old "let me discuss with my partner and ill get back to you." They're both calling me back on Monday.

Maybe it is my sceptical nature, but I feel these are dodgy. What's the catch? Will they run off with my bank details and drain me for every penny I have? Will another James Allan appear in the system and start buying a stack of tech from Argos?

Or... Maybe I'm missing out.

  • I'm the same James, I couldn't help but feel sceptical and would be very hesitant to sign up to anything from a cold call. Maybe I'm missing out too!
