This ‘Women Into Business’ networking event will focus on the issues that deaf people, and those with loss of hearing, face every single day.

Did you know that a fifth of Scotland's population suffers from a loss of hearing? (NHS inform, 2022)

This ‘Women Into Business’ networking event will focus on the issues that deaf people, and those with loss of hearing, face every single day.
You will gain understanding from our guest speakers on:

- The importance of being equipped to communicate within the deaf community
- The benefits this can bring to your business
- The knowledge of sign language as an essential communication tool

Plus be shown some simple signs to use within the workplace.

Our guest speakers, Claire and June, are two experts on the topic. Claire is a Child of Deaf Adults (CODA), so has grown up using sign language to communicate with her parents and others. She has studied British Sign Language (BSL) to Level 6 and has previously taught taster BSL and Deaf Awareness sessions in schools/colleges, locally for 10+ years.

June has been involved with the deaf community for over 20 years, as her partner was deaf, and they used BSL as their first language at home. She is also trained to Level 6 standard and completed Interpreting Studies at University. She has delivered Deaf Awareness and BSL courses for many years.

In the evening, there will be the opportunity to ask Claire and June questions, plus network with fellow local businesswomen over refreshments provided.
