A year on from Brexit, what are the real and present challenges facing importers & exporters?

Director of Trade Facilitation at British Chambers of Commerce Liam Smyth will highlight the key changes that became effective from January 1, some reflections on how businesses have had to adapt to a whole new set of border controls and regulations to ensure goods continue to flow smoothly and some of the real-life impacts this is causing.  Including requirements for retrospective declarations for 2021 activity, goods unable to board vessels at EU ports due to lack of or incorrect paperwork, pre lodgement of declarations including PVA, tariff and rules of origin changes. And the penalties for non-compliance.

BCC will talk through some fascinating data from our latest international trade survey of 1,000 companies across the UK. The presentation will look in detail at how firms are adapting to the changes introduced by the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement, and what support businesses are looking for to help them trade internationally. The findings have already received coverage in the FT and on the BBC but this event is an exclusive opportunity to look at the results in more depth and learn specifically about what the results might mean for your business.
