Earlier this year, I met Chelcie Grant, Recruitment Consultant at an AGCC networking event in the Chamber’s offices in Bridge of Don. It was an interesting conversation as it showed me that even though there wasn’t a problem per se, Chelcie could see that my expertise would interest their visionary Managing Director, Wendy Marr and once implemented, could have a positive effect on the organisation. The leadership team were constantly looking at ways for employees to gain fresh insight and a greater understanding of everyone’s roles.
I had an initial meeting with the Genesis management team in April; we did some colour profiling exercises and they liked what I did in that short period of time and so they thought it would be valuable for everyone so they invited me back to deliver a session for the business in June.
The team responded positively; they were asked to stay late one Thursday to complete the 3-hour session with me. Genesis felt that they couldn’t close the office during working hours and so they shut the office a little bit earlier than usual, provided a meal and the course was scheduled into the evening.
Wendy said to me afterwards, “This approach has shown each of our employees how to understand themselves better, and better relate to and respect their colleagues. Staff have also appreciated the investment that we’ve put into them and recognise the reasons and our intentions in taking this particular approach.”
Genesis Personnel is in the early stages of implementing the C-Me profiling that Cognition Coaching provides and I will be reporting back later this year with their progress and the impact that the Team Effectiveness Workshop coaching has had.
