Kitchen mishaps...

Happy Friday to you all!

Facebook kindly reminded me of one of my favourite kitchen mishaps - the creation of The BAT TOWEL....
(head over to LinkedIn for the full story)

You can perhaps tell from that first sentence that I'm not exactly a kitchen goddess, haha... I could probably write a book about kitchen mishaps and accidents! Although I am happy to report that my mishaps are normally of the smaller kind and don't leave any lasting damage.

What's the worst you have done in your (or someone else's) kitchen?

  • Oops 😊

I'm not a fan of the kitchen either - my mother-in-law always says she only has a kitchen because it came with the house!

My worst mishap in the kitchen was when I was boiling a can of condensed milk for a Banoffee Pie and forgot about it .... until I heard a bang and came in to find the pan boiled dry and the contents of the can of condensed milk all over the kitchen, including the ceiling.  Not the easiest stuff to clean up.

Don't think I have made a Banoffee Pie since 🤣

  • Haha! love that story, saw it on FB.

    • I'm glad bat towel made you giggle. :-)

  • Hi Iska. Love the towel. Not me, but one of my Mum and Dad's friends managed to successfully burn their house down once in a kitchen-related incident! Thankfully, no-one was hurt. They had to live in a hotel for approximately a year, thanks to the insurance cover - although informed everybody it wasn't as luxurious as it sounded and any tiny thrill of hotel life wore off pretty quickly. Whenever they were out and about after that, it was always the first topic of conversation, as you can imagine, and Kenny, the husband of the couple who was actually the one as close to responsible for starting the fire used to mock protest with a shrug of the shoulders and the phrase ...."You burn down one house, and this is how you're treated...."

    • Oh wow, I am glad to hear that no one was hurt in the fire! It can go wrong so quickly... I can well imagine that the novelty of hotel living would wear off quite quickly, stuck in a smallish room with no space to store things. Although not having to do the cleaning and cooking is a great bonus!

  • Will look out for that in the next Batman film!

    • Oh, you should! Bat Towel is set to replace Robin as Batman's new sidekick...

  • I have accidently put some tinfoil in the microwave - oops

Your towel looks scary! I hope it didn't damage anything else !

    • Oh dear - loads of sparks in the microwave! I hope you managed to take it out before anything happened?!

Thankfully I was in the kitchen at the time and 'rescued' the towel from the hob just in time. No other damage done.

  • hahaha! This is hilarious! I once set a pan on fire while cooking soup… My friend nearly poured water over it which would have just made it a lot worse.
