  • Good question Nicky! I feel as it stands, it is still so early in the life of a vaccine that making it complusory in the workplace is a step to far.  However for travel it will likely become a requirement like many other vaccines.  As someone who loves to see the world and been given many vaccines in order to travel I will do the same for this one when the time comes.

    • We all have different drivers for making these decisions Kayleigh Paterson don't we? For some they do it for their family or friends to keep them safe. For others they are so concerned about what people think about them that they want to be seen to 'do the right thing'. So having an incentive of being able to travel again could be a good one to encourage more people to get the vaccine? 😄

  • Interesting one! I personally can't wait to get mine and with my role working in people's houses I very much hope there are enough people who get it to help get this thing eradicated but think it raises a lot of ethical discussions and unfortunately I think there would be more kickback if it was to become mandatory than if it was advised... just my thoughts!

    • I agree with you Jess Nicoll as I really want to get my vaccination. However, when something becomes mandatory, there will be people who will retaliate and not comply....I really hope this not not the case in this situation.

  • Tricky one! It would of course make sense for everyone to be vaccinated. But making it compulsory at work is getting into a difficult area. Yet many countries will need that for you to travel to their country (I can't wait for my jabs!)

    • I'm with you Andrew Smith I can't wait to get the vaccine! It will allow us our freedom back...spending time with loved ones, hugging them, going on holiday, face-to-face networking 🙂

  • I'd like to think it remains an individuals choice, and the fact the vaccine does not cover you from getting Covid 100% is a reason I remain sceptical about if it's actually worth getting.  However, if it is a compulsory stamp or certificate that you must have in order to travel, then that would change my mind as I don't want to be restricted on where I can go in the world.

    • I think people still have many questions around the vaccine and where some will go ahead and get the vaccine anyway, there will be those who will be overly cautious.

If I'm honest Michelle Allan my worry is the number of people not getting the vaccine are high enough that we will never eradicate this awful virus. So perhaps having a little sweetener of allowing travel out with the UK is what will help make up their minds?

  • Let's hope so :-)
